How much does it cost to hire a branding photographer?

In order to get the photos that you need to stand out in your industry, you realize that you need to hire a branding photographer. A branding photographer will create photos that are relevant to your brand and will help you stand out. But how much does a branding photography session typically cost? Good branding photography is an investment. Cost varies, but here are some general guidelines to help you budget in advance so that you can book a session.

How much does a branding photoshoot cost in 2023? Here are some guidelines:

  • Time. A good branding photographer will want to capture enough variety for you to use for all of your marketing needs. In order to do that, you need time. And depending on the branding photographer, the amount of time that they need varies. We need at least a minimum time of 3 hours. This allows you to change outfits and set up in a couple different locations.

  • Cost per hour and day rates. Hourly fees vary by photographer and locations, but for branding photographers who have plenty of experience, the average hourly rate is $500/hour. Some branding photographers may do day rates instead, which is simply the cost of hiring them for the day (they don’t work per hour). This can range anywhere from $1,500 - $5,000.

  • Other time. In addition to the time spent taking photos during your session, your branding photographer may offer additional time up front to help plan your session. Whether it be through a questionnaire, planning call, location & outfit assistance, these things also must be taken into consideration and added to the amount of time that is spent preparing for your photo session. These hourly costs can vary, and can be anywhere from $50-$200 per hour.

  • Extra photos cost. Depending on the branding photographer, some may charge an additional amount for extra photos. We have seen anywhere from $25-250 per extra photo.

These four guidelines will help you determine how much branding photography costs. Let’s do a quick example:

Say a branding photographer has a minimum shoot time of 4 hours, charges $500 per hour, and spends around 2 hours in prep time for your photo shoot with an additional hourly rate of $200. They include 50 photos in their photo session package and charge $35 for any photo beyond that.

Branding photo shoot time: $500 x 4 hours = $2,000

Additional time: $200 x 2 hours = $400

Total cost: $2,400 (not including any extra photos you pick)

*Please keep in mind that this is just an estimate, and this blog provides guidelines. This does not apply to all branding photographers. Every branding photographer determines their cost differently.

Now that you have a better understanding of how much branding photography costs, it will be much easier to budget in the future if you are considering a session. We hope you found this helpful!
